Mr. Levine is a Partner in the Litigation Group and the Real Estate Group of Arnstein & Lehr LLP. His practice covers a broad spectrum of activities in the area of real estate litigation, including mechanics liens and bond claims, construction disputes, mortgage foreclosures, commercial landlord-tenant cases, title disputes and bankruptcy matters. His clients include major financial institutions and developers. Mr. Levine has written and spoken extensively on a variety of topics relating to mechanics liens, mortgage foreclosure and other real estate topics. He is an arbitrator of mechanics lien cases as part of the mechanics liens pilot arbitration program.

Professional Activities and Achievements

Mr. Levine is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA) and is Chairman of its Construction Law Committee. He is a past Chair of the ISBA’s Real Estate Section Council. He is the former editor of the ISBA Real Property Newsletter and is the recipient of the ISBA’s Newsletter Service Award. He is immediate past president of the Chicago Mortgage Attorneys Association. He is also a member of the Society of Illinois Construction Attorneys and a fellow of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers. He is a past chair of both the Chicago Bar Association’s Mechanics Liens and Construction Subcommitte and DuPage County Real Estate Law Committee.

Recent Publications and Lectures

Mr. Levine is the co-author of the chapters entitled “Trial Practice Proof of Selected Issues,” “Trial Practice: Proof of Damages” and author of “Mechanics Liens in Bankruptcy” appearing in the Mechanics Liens in Illinois Handbook published by the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education (IICLE). A chapter entitled “Defense of Mortgage Foreclosures” appear in the Real Estate Litigation Handbook published by IICLE. Mr. Levine also authored chapters for the Illinois Mortgage Foreclosure Practice Handbook, entitled “Judgements of Foreclosure, Reinstatement, and Redemption.”

His lectures include “Mechanics Liens in Bankruptcy and Claims,” which was presented at a Chicago Bar Association (CBA) Seminar. “Mechanics, Leins, Work Authorization and Condominiums” which was presented at a CBA Seminar, a mortgage foreclosure law update which was presented to the Chicago Mortgage Attorneys Association, a construction law update, presented to The ISBA, “Defense of Commercial Foreclosures,” and “Litigation Issues in Title Insurance,” presented to Lorman Educational.
