Phillip M. Hudson, III

Mr. Hudson is a partner resident in the Miami office of Arnstein & Lehr LLP. Mr. Hudson has been a commercial litigator and bankruptcy and insolvency specialist since 1985. His practice is nationwide and he has represented, and continues to represent, all types of participants in federal and state bankruptcy and insolvency matters, including financially troubled companies, unsecured creditors, secured creditors, creditors’ committees and governmental agencies including, for example, Government Development Bank of Puerto Rico. Mr. Hudson has been involved in numerous and substantial out-of-court workouts and bankruptcy reorganization cases handling high profile matters, including complex securitized lending transactions, industrial and government development bond restructuring, and the reorganization of both public and private corporations. Mr. Hudson also maintains a substantial complex litigation practice representing clients in federal and state courts throughout the country in diverse commercial matters, including ADA defense, shareholder disputes, fraud cases and general commercial disputes. He has recently handled complex, first impression priority disputes involving mortgage lenders and community development districts and bonds in Florida. In addition to Mr. Hudson’s heavy emphasis in the bankruptcy, insolvency and commercial arenas, he also has a great deal of experience in the following industries: aviation, banking, firearms, gaming, hospitality, and publishing. Mr. Hudson represents fiduciaries of all types, including bankruptcy trustees, federal and state court receivers, and assignees for the benefit of the creditors. He also maintains a substantial outside general counsel practice.
Professional Activities and Achievements
Mr. Hudson is a long-standing member of the Bankruptcy/UCC Committee of The Florida Bar and a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute. He participates in formal and informal seminars from time to time on a broad range of topics.
Ongoing Community Involvement
Mr. Hudson has and continues to serve on various local boards including The Beacon Council, a public/private partnership focused on economic development. He is also on the executive committee and chairs the aviation committee of The Beacon Council. He currently sits on the board and executive committee of HistoryMiami and is a member of the board of directors of The Florida Supreme Court Historical Society.
