Mary Ann Sullivan

Mary Ann Sullivan is a partner in Arnstein & Lehr’s Chicago office. Her practice focuses on property assessment law, ad valorem taxation and real estate law. Prior to coming to Arnstein & Lehr she worked for seven years as general counsel and director of the legal department for the Cook County Assessor, served the Illinois Supreme Court as master grader of the essay portion of the Illinois State Bar Examination in the areas of corporations, agency, partnership and states subject areas. Ms. Sullivan also prepared briefs in support of decisions by the Illinois Supreme Court’s Committee on Character and Fitness to deny law licenses based on a candidate’s character. Ms. Sullivan has also represented financial institutions in foreclosure litigation.
Professional Activities and Achievements
Ms. Sullivan is a member of the Chicago Bar Association, and sits on the State and Local Tax Committee, Property Tax Assessment and Appeals Committee, and the Real Estate Committee. She is also a member of the International Association of Assessing Officers and holds the designation of Certified Illinois Assessing Officer. She has been a presenter at several seminars on local property tax laws and procedures.
