Jorge R. Delgado

Associate

Jorge R. Delgado is an associate in the firm’s Fort Lauderdale office and a member of its Litigation Practice Group. He is a former summer associate with Arnstein & Lehr. Mr. Delgado’s litigation practice touches on a multitude of areas in both state and federal court, including complex commercial litigation, products liability, probate, creditor’s rights, employment, real estate, bankruptcy, contractual disputes, and appellate work.

Professional Activities and Achievements

Mr. Delgado graduated valedictorian of his law school class. During his academic career, he received eight book awards—for courses in Florida Constitutional Law, Intellectual Property, Constitutional Law I, Evidence, Civil Procedure II, Advanced Legal Writing, Civil Procedure I and Contracts I—which signify the highest achievement by a student in that course. Moreover, Mr. Delgado served as a staff editor of the St. Thomas Law Review, served as vice-president of membership of the St. Thomas Moot Court Board, and was also a student instructor of Property Law and Civil Procedure.

As a Moot Court competitor, Mr. Delgado was champion of the 2008 Saint Thomas Moot Court Team Intramural Competition, and a quarterfinalist in the 2009 Federal Bar Association’s Thurgood Marshall Memorial Moot Court Competition, where he received an individual award for second place Best Overall Oralist. His oral advocacy skills were recognized as a recipient of the Judge Henry-Leyte Vidal Scholarship.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Delgado served as judicial intern to Justice Barbara J. Pariente in the Florida Supreme Court, and to The Honorable Adalberto Jordan in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida, who was recently elevated to the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals.

Mr. Delgado remains active within the St. Thomas Moot Court Board, now as an alumni coach. To date, he has lead teams into two well-renowned national moot court competitions that concerned complex constitutional law and federal law issues.

Mr. Delgado is fluent in Spanish.
