Howard N. Gilbert

Of Counsel

Howard N. Gilbert is of counsel in Arnstein & Lehr’s Chicago office. He practices real estate, business, and estate planning law. Mr. Gilbert has extensive experience in the real estate industry representing developers, investors and mortgage bankers. Mr. Gilbert has represented major developers in the Chicago metropolitan area and other parts of the U.S. He has represented developers and investors in complex real estate developments of commercial, industrial and mixed-type projects. He also has considerable experience representing individuals and institutions investing in companies needing capital, including both start-up companies and existing companies seeking additional capital.

Mr. Gilbert has acted as counsel to investment bankers serving as merger and acquisition advisors, and to boards of directors seeking independent counsel when exercising their fiduciary duties. In addition, he counsels clients on business succession planning, structuring estates, trusts and transfers, and individual and business tax planning.

Professional Activities and Achievements

Mr. Gilbert has served on corporate boards. He is a former board member of Odyssey Inc., RHC/Spacemaster Corporation and Albany Bank & Trust Co. in Chicago. In addition, he is a former chairman of the board of Mount Sinai Hospital Medical Center of Chicago, a trustee of the Metropolitan Hospital Council of Chicago and the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago.

Mr. Gilbert is the author of “Unblessed Be the Tie That Binds: The Lorain Journal Case,” which appeared in the Yale Law Journal.
